Keynote Speaker —My Time in NFL & Working with Young People
Michael Bankston is a former Defensive tackle / Defensive end played NFL nine seasons—for Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals (1992-1997) and Cincinnati Bengals (1998—2000). He played college football at Sam Houston State University. He serves on Fiesta Bowl Committee and is a champion for youth—focusing on academics, athletics, and ethics to improve the lives of youth who face adversity.

Jim Bruner is a visionary who is always ready to do the best for our community. A Scottsdale resident, vet-eran, attorney and banker, Jim has provided civic, political and professional leadership to the Valley for more than 45 years. His leadership affiliations include (to list a few): Rotary Club of Scottsdale, Scottsdale City Council, Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, Virginia G Piper Charitable Trust (Trustee), Valley of the Sun United Way Scottsdale Boys and Girls Club of Scottsdale, Fiesta Bowl Board, Kiwanis Club, Scottsdale

Ken Brown
Rotarian Service Above Self Award
Ken Brown, a Rotarian for 22 years, has energized many Rotary projects over the years with genuine tal-ent and perseverance—serving for 10 years as chair of Rotary Club of Scottsdale’s Ed Adler Memorial Golf Tournament, raising close to $100,000 for education scholarships and introducing to attendees exciting sport celebrities. For 12 years, Ken has twice a year facilitated the BQ grilling for Club’s Rotary Park Days. Ken directs City of Scottsdale’s Rotary Park upgrade projects—including, Ramada and grill areas.
 
Nick Lowery
Scottsdale Citizen Service Above Self Award
Nick Lowery, a NFL Legend, recipient of NFL’s Byron Whizzer White Humanitarian Award and Scottsdale resident, gives humbly and selflessly back to his community. Since 1996, The Nick Lowery Youth Foundation, Inc has dedicated itself to supporting disadvantaged youth by developing, promoting and sponsoring programs and relationships that foster self-esteem, leadership qualities and skills and encourages youth to be through service positive assets to their communities. Along with several US presidents, Nick helped to launch AmeriCorps and Points of Light Foundation to address youth service, dropout prevention, athletic safety and more. His St. Vincent de Paul support is unending - personally serving meals, hosting and delivering powerful messages of hope to clients. Nick’s Foundation hosted 2017 Future of Football Town Hall on evolution of brain injuries in sports medicine.
 
Scottsdale’s Detour Community Theatre
Community Organization Service Above Self Award
Scottsdale's Detour changes lives - actors, families, coaches, volunteers, audiences and community as a whole. Founded in 2000, by Sam Detour, Detour Company Theatre’s mission is to create authentic, accessible theater opportunities for adults and youth who have developmental disabilities. Detour is an educational partner with Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts teaching high school drama students about special needs. Scottsdale Charros underwrites Detour on Tour Program performances at schools, service clubs and senior centers..
